With great respect, it appears to me that you do not know the meaning of the word "bias" in English.
Bias is not the same as declaring a preference. Its about the way in which that preference is arrived at. If a person makes a selection (of shares, a bottle of wine, a car, or a career) on objective grounds, for example after rigorous research, then that is not bias. In fact its the opposite of bias. You might accuse Kalenn of many things, but lack of diligence is not amongst them!
In fact, I would argue that some of your own posts may disclose a serious case of cognitive bias. According to wikipedia (the source of all wisdom these days) cognitive biases may sometimes lead to perceptual distortion, inaccurate judgment, illogical interpretation, or what is broadly called irrationality. A particular sub-category of cognitive bias is called confirmation bias. I'll give you an example: if you see a stock failing to reach its target price, it may confirm a pre-determined view that it will never go up, regardless of other objective factors that might lead you to the oppositie conclusion. Does that describe any posts that you can think of?
We all harbour biases (some of which may be unconscious biases). I, for example, have a bias in favour of people who are smart and who make good arguements and I am biased against those who are not smart and say silly unsubstantiated things. Its a flaw on my part.
But fortunately, the clever designers of Hot Copper have provided people like me with a perfect solution. So today I am using the "ignore" function for the very first time. Ever. I invite others to consider doing the same, just as the mods frequently remind us to.
As for the analysts visit itself, I couldn't be more excited if I was going myself! I think that, combined with the casacade of important announcements that are expected before the end of this calendar year, it will be a company-changing event.
And the fact that one of our own will be along makes it doubly great.
Note they havent invited a dummy like me. They have invited somone who is forensic in his research and examination of the company; someone who knows Avanco's business twice as well as the best informed analyst and who has a real, genuine, personal, financial stake in its success. Nothing focusses the mind like self interest (wheras bias just fogs it up).
Go Kalenn, I wish you safe and profitable travels!
