Certainly not generally too keen to use inground value, as much of a guide to the value of a stock.
However with this one...the 30 MT of direct shipping grade FE (or almost $2 Billion worth in ground).......YML capitalisation is in complete disproportion to the market cap and likely value of this company.
Especially in view of their product...high demand iron ore (just needs to be ground and crushed)....and the fact the company owns deposits within the Pilbara.
So to complete this excerise (to highlight how cheap the stock is).......
You need 2.5 million ounces of gold to match 30MT of iron ore, in terms of inground value ( $5.5 billion company Lihir Gold have 23 million ounces of reserves)
Given transport and port facilities.....in many respects, its easier to generate profits from gold production.
Annoucnement of a greenfield discovery of 2.5 million ounces of gold today for example, would see hysteria and market caps way over $200 million.....yet here we have YML wallowing on a quarter of that.
So to complete
