I worked for a Faculty of Medicine in one of the bigger European universities a couple of years back. My boss, a professor, was an absolute nightmare to deal with from a business perspective. I watched him in person during various negotiations processes with government departments and private industry. His idea of negotiation was to get the other person to give him exactly what he wanted, in total, to the letter, while maintaining complete and unfettered control of all aspects of the research program, its discoveries, merchandising and intellectual property rights. In essence, he wanted industry/government to carry the financial burden and risks while giving them back next to nothing in return. He made it virtually impossible for them to do business with us. Considering that the science behind MSB continues to demonstrate efficacy and safety I am simply amazed that we can't seem to attract a partner from the Pharmaceutical industry. I noticed that while Teva walked away from the agreement last year, to date they don't appear to have sold a single share they own in MSB. My take on that is that they still have faith in the fundamental science which underpins the company and don't want to miss out on its eventual value. So with that in mind, I wonder if the problem of attracting an industry partner is more to do with the personality driving the company than any problems with the products in development. We can't all be experts in everything, perhaps our professor should concentrate on the science and invest in a business expert to steer the negotiations. Anyone else got any views on this?

That aspect has been posted about ad infinitum here. I think HC is roughly split 50/50 on it but that means nothing here. The idea of attracting a partner has much more to do with all the Phase 3 results, and second the kind of deal the company demands. Have said it before when the science comes in with positive results the bid will need to be higher - much higher. I don't think the Pharmas care really they seem to be able to print money at will (like Teva). Anyway there's so many expert negatives in this forum I'm convinced so I'm getting ready for Armageddon.
