Altech Chemicals (ATC) is a Company that is aiming to be one of the worlds leading suppliers of 4N High Purity Alumina (HPA). 4N HPA is 99.99% pure and currently attracts of a price of around $30,000 per tonne. HPA has uses in the sapphire industry, LED's, smartphone components and in a recent Company update, will also be supplied for use with Lithium-Ion batteries. Current estimates by the Company indicate that the demand for HPA will grow at CAGR of roughly 16-17% upto 2024. The Company's lenders and proposed builder are currently in the final stages of due diligence for the approval of finance and the target date has been set for December 14 2017. The proposed finance will be coming from the German Bank KfW-Ipex and the builder for the project will be SMS group which is a world class quality builder with proven experience in the field. The proposed project location is Johor in Malaysia. To date, no fatal flaws in the project have been identified with due diligence nearing completion. In a recent company announcement, the builder, SMS group, has upgraded plant design to 4500 t/pa and now includes the ability to produce HPA for the sapphire industry, as well as HPA for the lithium-ion battery industry, which is a major positive for shareholders and key stakeholders in the business. The plant will also be built at a fixed price which significantly de-risks the project to shareholders. The feedstock for the plant will come from a Kaolin clay deposit located in Meckering, WA. Kaolin is a cheap, high quality alternative to other traditional feedstocks and has the ability to place ATC at the lower end of the cost curve and significantly increase margins. ATC have approval to mine and ship the deposit. Other interesting facts about the Company include that it has a 10 year off-take agreement with Mitsubishi and is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
