Smart investor.

SP is an uncontrolled variable that long term investors give way too much credence to. People use it intraday as a measure of medium and long term company success. It is a reflection of market confidence in a company and nothing more - if that is your measure of how successful a company is going to be at achieving its goals, then you are literally depending on other people to decide for you whether your investment is a sound one or not. Other people...you know, those beings for whom fear is the most primary driver, who follow each other into their own doom, for whom too much is never enough and greed is simply part of the human condition. I don't let the SP control how I feel - I used to, until I realised how detrimentally it affected my decisions, even with short term investments. Company fundamentals now decide whether I buy or sell. The SP only decides what I buy or sell at.

Market manipulators depend 100% on the psychological effects that SP have on investor decisions. If you remove SP from the investment equation and isolate yourself from the market and its irrational behaviour, your investment depends entirely on company operations and you can ultimately only blame them in years time for what your investment is worth.

This is no more relevant than for a spec stock, where the end goal SP, the ultimate prize, is multitudes higher than any SP you've seen leading up to it. 1.8 cents, 3 cents, 4 cents...all a bit irrelevant once you get to dollars. This is why I question so often whether people know what they are investing in when they jump on the 88E boat and get pissy over short term portfolio paper losses. Should you ever be lucky enough to cop a five, eight or ten bagger like some of us 88E long termers did a couple years ago...after being down 50% in our portfolios...you'll see the big picture.
