From my understanding, there is this tension in share registry management between share trading liquidity and overhead cost of managing the register.
The more shares, the greater the liquidity, the higher the cost to manage. CSL, with about 452m issued shares, I would suspect, thinks that this is a nice balance between the two conflicting aims.
With sharemarket trading now global, people are much more comfortable paying 100's of dollars for Apple and Alphabet, than they would have been 10 or 15 years ago.
IMO, I do not see CSL doing a split for a long long time.
