Calsy, we have entire threads devoted to the local situation in Mozambique, the "Ruby wars," GEM's so-called "ethical mining", their use of government security forces as well as a paid army of hundreds of armed men, hunting down artisanals, and moving villages, people disappearing, & the like.

Links to the videos are all there. This is Africa mate. Its a 3rd world country, and while Mozambique has a good mining history, it still has this sort of risk.

MUS's handling of the illegal miners has been industry-leading! Employing them, training them, and paying them loyalties has been a game changer! They have been welcomed by the local villages, and have vowed to never mine in village locations. They have been recognized by local government for their work, and this latest criminal act would be shocking to the locals, who are generally all hard-working, good people!

To question the increasing of security is nothing short of ludicrous! A gang of armed criminal killed a security guard, and stole upwards of $200k of gems, and what do you suggest. "Ah well ... leave it as is." Are you kidding us? This will happen again, and forgetting more rubies being stolen, another good man/men will die unless they are protected. Besides which, I can tell you the insurance company will demand better security if they want continued insurance.

One of the main reasons I have such a large holding in MUS is their respectful treatment of the local people and workers. Comparing them to GEM is a total joke, and shows a total lack of knowledge! Supposedly from a holder who stated he was "ALL in on MUS"
