rom, lol, you are struggling. There are many ways to determine momentum but the lazymans way is to use an indicator. Only short when say the rsi is topping on say a 5 min chart.. but that doesn't mean short just because the rsi is overbought. An overbought rsi plus xjo at significant resistance is a high probability short combo, at least for a scalp. Then you got to worry about the exit. You can't rely on rsi for exits when doing a counter trend short cos it may not hit oversold levels. Some people use rsi 50 as their exit for countertrend shorts. I use candles and just sense of the market but thats another story.
theres a whole lot of emotional baggage you have to deal with when shorting at a high, but get over it. You're playing probabilities remember. cheers!
