Considering speculation is common place on this website and there is no clear motive as to why this bloke did what he did, i'd say it is only logical for people to speculate. AND given that a congressman and other republicans narrowly escaped a massacre only a few months ago, i would say that this could very well be about politics given that a man of a similar age attempted to do something similar a few months back.

"To what end would it serve?" if you are asking me personally, i have answered the question above. If you are querying the gunmen, who knows why he chose country music fans. He may have just "snapped" . Then again, someone doesn't snap when booking a hotel well in advance and going on a spree buying guns and amo.

I think it serves a purpose to know why someone kills 50 people, if only to answer the questions victims' families must have at the moment OR to backtrack to see if it could have been stopped.
