So you don't think the removal of government support in Oz (which is pretty low to international standards - refer the links I posted) and energy costs (with the power generation been essentially private) were not a factor, noting the cost cutting in the car industry still did not save it.

If you believe in that unions killed Oz car industry then why is the UK heavily subsidising the industry and what would be the impact if all subsidies were removed noting the workforce there is not unionised. You have sought to link the lack of unions in the car industry in teh UK to the destruction in Australia, whilst I have said it is subsidies and energy costs keeping it viable there (even Thatcher had to give whopping subsidies after she smashed the unions with those subsidies still been upped in the 2000s) hence the growth in UK car industry. Over to you, but we will agree to disagree - I am not disputing hogh wages may be a cause but in the last 10 years given cost cutting they were not the primary cause, it was the reduction in subsidies here whilst other countries were increasing theirs.

And here lies the problem of a lack of foresight by liaser faire pathetic governments. The best lithium batteries are made from hard rock lithium plays and Australia dominates this as this is the preferred feedstock in the lithium hydroxide as against carbonate market. Having no car industry means again all the benefits of battery development/lithium inputs will go back overseas and the primary cost in batter production is capex and energy costs (not labour) as it is also in car production. Another lost opportunity - congratulations on exporting value add to other countries (especially countries that yabber laisser faire but do other things like the USA/UK/Japan who heavily subisidise and China who heavily regulate). I am not arguing around subsidies but stating that too many get brainwashed by simple slogans that it is someone elses fault rather than saying the problm lies in the policy setting process.

We will agree to disagree here
