From what I can see you are right on the money.

I was looking at similar houses in similar areas here in Melbourne vs those in the US and Toronto Canadar and our houses here cost about TWICE as much as our counterparts on the other side of the world. From what I could see as well, wages were pretty much on par so WHY are house prices here in Oz so outrageously EXPENSIVE?

Makes you kinda wanna shut up shop here and give it a crack over there (esp Toronto) seeing as though with the money I have saved up here, I could easily afford to buy a very nice house without the stress of a lifetime mortgage.

Are we REALLY the "lucky" country anymore??? I'm tending to think NO.
