Looks a lot like the Dutch Tulip Crisis to me.
Everyone thought tulip bulbs would keep going up in price forever. But then someone realised they were just tulip bulbs and were just worthless. But imagine if it had kept going just how much tulip bulbs would be now - probably a few million at least.
