Shorters borrow stock (not sure how), dump it on the market and when the price drops they buy back all of what they borrowed at a lower price, return the stock to the lender and pocket the difference. Not my cup of tea.....
Price will be driven down when there is a lot of shorting, i.e. dumping large quantities of stock on the market will drive the price down, playing in to the hands of the shorters.

Very confident in ATC, am a big fan and supporter of the company and its plans. Worts and all.
I too am aiming for a long term hold with the hope of a possible dividend in a few years.
