Jesus does not meet the requirements for Messiahship as described in old testament prophesy, that's why orthodox Judaism rejects Jesus as being the prophesied Messiah. The Gospel writers tried to make it happen, they made an effort, but ultimately they failed. Of course this doesn't stop people believing whatever appeals to their desires and fears, hopes and aspirations....
