Hi Flick - fundamentals for SDL is still guess work, (and for GBG to some extent) many believe that the coming SDL JORC will still only be a part of the story.
Joining together makes a lot of sense financially, the shared costs for the rail and port infrastructure will now be able to be done even cheaper due to the better finance prospects the larger entity has and the more muscle it has with buyers as these may well be the major source of finance.
The whole thing may yet be thrown out by shareholders unless both groups are convince4d of these arguments and many others so we can all expect the PR machine to start rolling along with the annoucements in the next few months.
It is all good IMO but each to his/her own.
Cheers
