/firmly pulls on tin foil hat.
But this is the thing... MUS didn’t know what was happening. CJ and the other directors were all in the dark, thinking they were taking high grade stones to auction. They didn’t know the room was artificially stacked with fake buyers who had no intention to buy.. or that the stones would be written off as dissapointing by a website that has a strong bias to the incumbent (proven by a string of articles favorable to Gemfields).
And least of all, MUS assumed that their own grading system would be acceptable to those same (fake) buyers. And they had a strong reason to think that: To try and unify (dominate?) a fractured gem industry Gemfields had successfully developed their own grading system for Emeralds in 2009 and Rubies in 2014.
Alluring blood red stones from Mozambique... a secret auction in an isolated East African island nation... a charismatic managing director with two many A’s in his name... a rigged grading system manipulated by the competition.. a motley crew of stacked buyers hand picked and strategically placed by an aggressively protective mega corporation lead by an aloof billionaire...
