Its another disgusting failure of privatisation IMO.
The way to stop detainees destroying property is to GIVE THEM SOMETHING TO DO while incarcerated. It is not to treat them like bailed cargo, the way these "detention contractors" do.
Daily constructive activity is the way to stop refugees burning things down - and the way to save costs from destruction of property. Same as in the prison system.
The government should take this whole shameful situation back under its wing. Boot the contractors - appoint proper prison guards who are trained to deal with angry inmates. Give the detainees constructive programs - so that they don't have the time or inclination to destroy anything.
This private bare bones "detention" company does nothing remotely like this, and now, because of this failure, our government has to bail it out anyway.
