Personally, I lean towards some kind of shareprice appreciation, though as you say to quantify that seems to be quite a challenge. A real barrier to any gains lies in the overwhelming negative sentiment it now carries....on the flipside though there would be a mountain of traders out there I suspect lining their troops on the border waiting for any signal to attack.
That said, I do not believe that there will be any counter-offers to Westpac....I believe RAMS does not meet the risk profile acceptable to other would-be suitors, particularly in the current credit climate, but that's just an opinion.
The rewards could be high, but for me, just a little too risky particularly when we are so blessed to have so many resource stocks on the board exponentially increasing in worth.
