* Previous seismic work from the 1980s (1400 km) covered 10 - 15% of the basin
* The targets are shallower (at approx 1,500 metres)than the Cooper Basin
* Previous exploratory drills showed "some indication of hydrocarbons"
* The Arckaringa, unlike the Cooper, has marine shale ("magnificent source rock and magnificent seal")
