Holding an Option is still holding an Investment. If you are Trading your Options (Buying and Selling for a profit) then it applies the same as for normal Shares.
I can make assumptions, but overall I'm not sure how to calculate your profit for CGT if you convert your Options to Shares. I assume it is, but please don't quote me: Share Sale Price - (Option Conversion Price + Option Purchase Price) == Profit.
More likely, it'll be the Options will be calculated as a 100% loss, and the profit will be on (Sale Price - Conversion Price). It would work out the same anyhow.
Not sure on the 12 months mark and how that applies though, it may be 100% loss on the Options on conversion, and 12 months Shareholding starts from conversion date.
