Guys,
I hear your reactions, but consider the entire audience and maybe look at this presentation differently:
1. Message to BHP Staff: it emphasises SAFETY and BHP commitment to its staff - this is key to those people (and shareholders depend on staff doing their job well)
2. Message to BHP Staff: it emphasises INCLUSION - "you are all part of the team" - staff need to feel and act this way (and shareholders depend on staff working cooperatively using all collective skills)
3. Message to BHP staff: it emphasises ENVIRONMENT - BHP is cognisant of environmental issues and is doing its part - staff can feel proud of working for BHP and can stand tall in front of those in society that would run down all miners (and shareholders benefit by attracting and retaining smart well-motivated people)
4. Message to BHP staff: BHP pays its taxes and lots of them - staff can know that BHP is a major contributor to the governments and communities in which it operates, and staff can feel proud of their work as part of this
5. Messages to community and governments: AS ABOVE but the community and government may read these in a different order of relevance, maybe 4,3,2,1. (and shareholders benefit by BHP's actions achieving greater acceptance, and hopefully lesser disruption).
So I am prepared to say that this is appropriate presentation(s) for the audiences - and that benefits shareholders!!!
PS
Shareholder porn (aka production reports, financial reports etc) can be readily found on BHP website, ASX filings, etc for those with a passionate interest in such matters.
