I forgot to mention the solar hot water system.
It came from ACTEW and I insised on an Edwards cos they are made in WA (where atrocious water prevails)
and have a rugged stainless steel tank.
My last two glass-lined steel tanks rusted out
in about ten years each - so I felt the extra
cost of stainless steel was warranted.
Plus while ACTEW was on the job, for an extra
$200 they installed three solar panels
instead of the normal two.
A 50% boost in output for $200
seemed like a very good deal
as was having the plumber
install a 'temperer' on the
hot-water in-pipe so the
thermostat could be
raised and the temperer
mixes very hot and cold water
to (as it were) 'gear up' the tank's
output of normally hot water to above
its nominal capacity.
For Canberrra, glycol-filled panels (connected to heat-exchanger in the roof-top water tank) are essental
to avoid frost-caused panel leaks.
