OMG sorry for my ranting here: He who throws the first stone... There are allot of articles relating to the child labour in the Congo. And an argument was raised in another forum thread about exactly this. Amnesty international has a few articles on the subject. Few things AVZ being an Australian based company I am sure will check out these ethical issues being one of the foremost leaders in the world on humanitarian rights. I raised the question however: these articles are pointing at the fact that these children should not be working. The reason they are their is because their parents have sent them there and if not there it is going to be to the local Sex house or worse still be used as organ donors. The solution is not stoping this but protecting ALL the workers with health work environment, protection first and introducing education so they can work and study. Without this their parents will send them to a faith far far worse than this. It's very important to attach this problem strategically or life will be lost. This is just my 2 cents. These article might all be hear say and negative press to drive DRC mining down and encourage European / American miming. Is everyone sure than the mining in Argentina are not using children there ? Nobody knows. This topic is hot and it's still not well documented. The fact of the matter it is that it is 90% likely that the buttons on the shirt your putting on now has been made or packed by small hands somewhere in China or Bangladesh. And I can guarentee you there is more tonnage of buttons that there are Killograms of cobalt. The moment we started importing from third world countries that's the moment we accepted all of this inhumanity... All these articles insight leaving the Congo for dead, leave them to find a way to make it on their own. Don't invest in them invest in our EU lands who encourage abortion and not to mention a flourishing child prostitution industry. If we pull our investment out now, for this reason we won't be evoking change we will condemn these children to death. We have a foot in the door now... a strategic change must be in the works or must be demanded. The solution is not to stop, the solution is to stay and change all of this. This is a massive foot in the door to a region with poor to no moral values... the mining will attract more UN and internatonal aid , mainly education and in time help the people there wipe out all in humanities. When all these articles warn about not investing in the DRC, they are saying leave that land for dead and invest in our EU or South American lands who support abortion and a growing child prostitution industry. AIMO and sorry for the super long post. This is just my view on the topic.
