For all the people who voted No (50% + of the electorate), it is a pretty simple and compelling proposition:
"If you want to send a message to Liberal and Labor, that religious freedoms and freedom of choice need protecting, then Vote 1 for Joram Richa".
This bi-election can be about that one single issue, and that makes a contest between the Conservatives vs the main stream centrist parties. This is not unlike the Greens beating out Liberal and Labor for inner city seats.
