Just a general view re. Markets...
With Renee Rivkin sentenced to a stretch in the 'big house' for insider trading, I'm a little miffed by ASIC after seeing the trading in TAB yesterday - we see this all too often with mergers, acquisitions, negative/positive news etc - speculation leading up to the announcement, then immediately preceding the announcement, a big jump in price and/or volume of the company in question.
With TAB yesterday, we saw a 9%+ move ahead of a trading halt and subsequent announcement.
Please excuse my ignorance, but why is this not viewed as insider trading?
