Wouldn't the markets' perception depend on the issue price of the shares had they have gone down that path. If they had negotiated a price based on consideration of what your 'benefactor' would have Had to pay by buying in on market, then the SP would likely be around where it is now. What is this 'entities' average buy in price? Weren't they lucky to per chance find a volume seller to kick start things today. This whole episode could produce a few rather sinister conjectural theories, especially if a major announcement is 'immanent' - I seem to recall that that word was the subject of much discussion some time ago.]
[Perhaps management, did not accept the original offer for that very reason on the basis that by doing so there could have, dependent on subsequent events, been a strong appearance of insider trading at work.]
If the board had accepted that alleged offer it would have been transparent and clear cut. As it is, we have anonymous HC chatter offering up an explanation of why, out of the blue, 35 mill shares were traded in a day without any form of announcement to back it up. Hmmm ... watch this space.
