People were indignant about Howard not doing anything and I will admit I was one of them.

and people ARE NOT now indignant about Howard now (or in March) doing something

They are idignant about Howard not doing something a lot earlier

They are indignant about Howard earlier claiming there was nothing he or the Australian government could do.

They are indignant about the fact that Howard did nothing until it became clear it was going to be an election issue

They are indignant about the fact that blind freddy could see that Howard played a part in Hicks release (only for election purposes) but Howard denied playing any roll and once again Howards lies are coming back to haunt him.
