I could be wrong, at a guess I would say you have to convert them. I imagine in that circumstance they would become worthless if left unconverted.
DYOR on that but I would want to know if I was holding. Call DEG office and ask who knows you may inadvertently get a lead to question in the back of a lot of minds currently.
