I am still proud of the fact that I held the Marist Brothers Thebarton SA school caning record when I was 10 years old in Grade 6. I had the cane 26 whacks in one day. Mostly 6 on one hand. I got so hardened to the cane I could look the person in the eye and not flinch. I don't think it made me better or worse.
