Lithium in Montalegre: Rejected injunction of Australian company
The court in Braga rejected Monday an injunction filed by the Australian company New Lithium against Portugal's Lusorecursos because of a possible concession for the operation of a lithium deposit in Montalegre.
In the suit, the Australian company claimed to have contracted the transfer of the position of the prospect agreement with the Portuguese firm and says that Lusorecursos does not have the technical and financial capacity for the subsequent concession.
The Bracaran firm, in turn, rejects this claim and states that the contract of prospect was granted, and renewed, more than once, which is possible only to those who prove capacity, and that is what happened with Lusoreceases .
This same capacity appears in the request for concession that Lusorecursos has delivered to the General Directorate of Geology and Mining and without which it would be immediately rejected. It is about extracting lithium oxide, in the area of the Mines of Sepeda, in Carvalhais, parish of Morgade, in Montalegre.
The two parties, which had come to an agreement, accuse each other of defaults.
