    Ptolomy see if you can understand this:

    Lets just assume that the UCG/CTL process produces no emissions or they are all sucessfully sequestered (a highly unlikely and/or prohibitively expensive scenario imo but anyway on with it).

    Now when the fuel is combusted it releases CO2 into the atmosphere, correct? Is this any more or less than the equivalent in diesel? If it isn't less then there is no reason to do it - at least no GHG reason.

    Compare that with biofuels, which tend to sink GHG during their production process, or electricity which is apparently more efficient.

    This just looks like an expensive, technically complex and environmentally questionable way of keeping the coal dream alive.

    If you have figures that say otherwise, then I would be interested in seeing them. I couldn't find any on the company website (or any claim that the process would result in a reduction of CO2 emissions).
