OK - I understand where the "downrampers" are coming from. Most of them feel the need to add an alternative view to counter positive bias, in the interest of a more informed and healthy discussion environment. There might be added impetus for them knowing there are good hearted people who fail to see the positive bias, and lose money as a result.

The plain truth of the matter is there's nothing you can do about it.

Internet chat sites only work one way - that is, if everyone treats a poster as pushing their side of the story, because that's what happens. It is one side of the story, usually positive because that's the only way they personally benefit from it. If a hotcopper user does not see this he is not using the site properly. It means they're being irresponsible as well, as it means users who want to contribute to the debate, and who use the site properly, bear the added burden of having to worry if some newcomer has mis-interpreted his words as being a balanced, informed opinion.

So really, it is the people who act on trade4profit's comments without scoping the other side of the coin, who is at fault. It pains me that they lose money as a result of their naivety but I don't see any other way around. Hotcopper can't work any other way.

When downrampers realise this truth, they'll let nature take its course. Let threads be excessively biased to the positive. When people lose money as a result of thinking it is a balanced and informed debate, they'll learn, and change their ways. With a bit of luck, this handy little lesson will pay for itself many times over sometime down the track. Learning to discern bias and personal interest is truly an invaluable lesson no matter what you in life.

I went through a phase where I was sick of the positive bias on threads and the mis information floating around as a result, but after a while you think to yourself, what can you do? Nothing, really. If anyone has a better solution feel free to suggest but I can't see anything better. So please, will all the downrampers, just hit the blue "Logout" button everytime they feel the need to contribute and make hotcopper a better place.
