I read the article and the Reddit posts (i.e. here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/69ekq6/beware_spectrocoincom_is_a_scam/).
The claims that Spectrocoin is a scam does not seem legit. Even in the Reddit thread above, users claim they have been using Spectorcoin for over a year, without any problems. I suspect US-based users might have issues satisfying all KYC hurdles (because of very trick US regulation), but I would not panic. Internet is full of false claims.
