This is not important - but something I have meant to ask for a while.
Does an Australian gold producer pay Corporate Tax or is it Gold Tax.
In the beginning there was no tax on gold earnings at all except a royalty paid to the local mining warden - The argument was that they were digging up money so no tax on their labour.
Then in the 30's when the gold standard got scrapped they introduced a tax on miners (most were still indivudals or small groups) and called it Gold Tax. Has that been scrapped to make way for the universal Corporate Tax??
Can anyone correct or enlarge on those thoughts? Thanks.
