The multinational I work for was (we've been recently taken over so using past tense) is a US company with their head of finance in the U.K, Domicile of Ireland (for tax purposes), head office in Switzerland (again for tax)
They restructured a couple of years ago so that all the stock we manufacture and hold in stock in Australia was "owned" by the principle being - Switzerland. Technically the stock wasn't in Australia and when someone bought the stock off the shelf there was a "flash transaction" where it was momentarily in Aus then owned by the customer. A complete scam!
We were one company but split up into 3 with 3 separate ABN numbers even though we all sat in the same office.
Maybe the tax office should have been looking at my employer.
*Our new employer is now in the process of undoing all this crap and even they stated they weren't interested in not paying their fair share of tax (which I'm still skeptical of being a US multi-billion $ company)
