Mining corporation signs MoU with Australian varsity

VIJAYAWADA: A delegation of industrialists from Australia came forward to partner with Andhra Pradesh Mining Development corporation.The delegation led by senior members of industries from Australia, Sean Kelly, Consul General of India, met Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at the Interim Government Complex in Velagapudi on Monday. On the occasion, the Andhra Pradesh Mining Development Corporation Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Curtin University, Perth.
For the development of the Institute of Mining Education and Research in Andhra Pradesh, Curtin University has agreed to establish a world class centre and participate in the analysis of mining education, occupational health, safety aspects and the needs of industrial research and development.
Another MoU was signed with the Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for water sensitive cities. APCRDA and the Municipal Administration departments will be the key partners from the state government, and help implement Australia’s world-leading water sensitive practices in Amaravati.
CRC will also start a pilot project using green technology to demonstrate how drainage infrastructure can be retrofitted in Vijayawada for sustainable urban water management. The Chief Minister lauded the efforts by Sean Kelly, for his dedication to collaborate with Andhra Pradesh.
