If Ross owned that share of the company then it was similar to him having contributed cash to ICG.
He could have sold the shares in Urcaguary and put the money in the bank. It is contribution in kind.
If I own a car and give that car to someone as payment for a debt then that is similar to my selling the car and giving the person cash. It is still payment.
