I know that here in WA public housing has been sold off by lab and lib governments over the last 20 or so years


When WA went through the first mining boom in the 60's and early 70's whole suburbs of public housing were built by the state government and I would say it is a safe bet with funding from the federal government.

This strategy clearly created other social problems but it did also meet the demand for cheap housing much of which was sold at the time to people who could buy them under sudsidised schemes.

NO STATE OR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS DONE ANYTHING ON THIS SCALE SINCE, Labor or Liberal.
