For a bit of perspective, the weed industry is a huge threat to the alcohol industry and not one that has gone unnoticed. Alcohol companies have been trying to position themselves to defend against loss of market share and I believe this is one such move.

The underlying rationale is simple. Alcohol has a monopoly on the “legal ways to not be sober” market. If weed becomes legal and socially accepted, how many will choose to have edibles/joints for a night out instead of 10 beers?

I highly doubt it’s going to be weed flavoured beer. Most likely it will either be something marketed as “a new kind of buzz” (though I’m not sure whether they’ll face some kind of regulatory issues promoting this) or they’ll claim the active ingredients offset some of the negative effects of the alcohol.
