I believe that was an American Redstone rocket. The type Alan Shepard orbited the Earth in During the Mercury space program in the early 60's. There was an actual satellite type device on board that relayed telemetry till the vehicle fell from orbit shortly after launch.

In regard to Blue Moon picking us up, if you can get to Somerset England you may have a shot from the remains of St Michaels church tower on Glastonbury Tor.

@CounterVin put me in the believer camp as well. Just too many pieces adding up to be coincidence or hogwash. When this takes off those who are not in early may find themselves priced out of a larger position not to mention a few easy bags.
