I'm thinking 'How long is a piece of string' - Depending on the level of fit out (and what was in the site prior), anything from $350 k + for a decent shop fit out. Regional areas usually more. But there's far more to it than that. Other upfront costs for a franchise can go another $100 k (franchise upfront fee, training), acctg and legal costs, lease costs and 4 months rent upfront (3 m goes into a bond). Virtually impossible to make money in a shopping centre selling coffee and cakes, once you allow for all costs, including the inevitable refit costs down the track.
