Zog, yes ... 16um for v3 excitation, 12um for 2v3 (NVAP, Argentina) and 5.3um for 3v3 (CRISLA, Neutrek). Unfortunately I am restricted to elaborate on details.
In terms of reflecting the beam back onto itself, remember that 16um photons are very expensive and complex to produce (even at low repetition rate). And in a low pressure UF6 environment, the only way to crank up the techno-economics (commercial feasibility) is by using very long laser path lengths (or volume filling). Hence retro-reflection onto itself is out of the question. In a CW laser configuration (i.e. CRISLA), retro-reflection is used as a means to increase the intensity of the laser beam.
