There are a lot of reasons why a share price would be held down. Some ideas have been discussed here. Very few would argue that it has not been the case here for some time now.

I don't think the shorter is looking to profit from the short trades at all. It is being used as a way to hold down the price which imo an as yet unknown "bigger picture" will explain. It is easy enough to open a short position, sell some shares you own to the value of that position pushing the price down and cover it with a buy order for the shares you shorted. Just be sure to sell when you can impact the share price the most (down one or more pips) and buy when it will not raise the pip up again.

It is not a case of "if" this has been happening, just compare the shortman.com.au data to the course of trades. The question is why? I'm guessing we will find out soon enough. Obviously I think it will be positive in nature, else I would not be holding through all this.

Anyway, good news is that none of this works if volume starts to increase.

Institutions own sweet FA and have been caught with there pants down.
