While goldbugs buy gold bars and hunker down for financial Armageddon, the new governor of the Reserve Bank of NZ has a different view. Orr's impressive record as head of the NZ Super Fund makes him well qualified to comment.

About a month ago, for example, Orr, chief executive of the New Zealand Super Fund was asked at a public event about Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters' view that a global economic downturn is imminent.
"Bollocks," Orr told his audience, before outlining why the global economy was hitting a "goldilocks zone" of rising inflation and low interest rates.
