jambo - I agree with you on merging, but tend to move over to the right-hand lane (when it's safe), when I can see a number of cars lining up to 'merge'.
Recently I was driven in a car by someone very experienced and he crossed a number of roundabouts in order to continue straight on and always indicated briefly 'left' as soon as he had passed first turn-off on the left. I have been doing this ever since, watched a number of people do it, but not all.
What is the correct way, please?
