interesting points unclebarry,
I wonder how it works with lightning strikes.
I see two aspects to investigate:
1/ The protection from electronic surges from lightning strikes. You have now and enormous investment in solar panels and asociated electronics to support these panels on your roof exposed to potential lightning strikes.
I would hope these is some suitable failsafe system integrated with the solar power system.
2/ Adding a metal-framed solar panel system to yor roof might increase the possibility of a lightning strike to your home.
Would that increase your insurance premium at all and do you need to notify your insurance company of the change?
