    Hi BB.
I had an electrical Contracting business for over 30years.

'I wonder how it works with lightning strikes.'
    Act of God, nobodie's fault.

    The surge from a strike,
there are surge deverters to cover that situation.

Increase in a possible lighten strike chance,
Myself, it would not bother me, as there is normally a TV post and aerial above the roof and nobody cares about that.

This would blow out any cost saving.

    BUT.
A lighting strike OR CLOSE strike would destroy the panels and all the control switch gear.

BUT... maybe GM has found a you-beaut cheap way of fitting a suger arrestor system to his panels and switch gear.

    BUT
    What about a hail storm.
What about a reduction in output due to dirt.
It is truely amazing just what a reduction a fine layer of dirt will produce on your solar cell/s !!!!!!!!!

    BUT
What about the sun's angle of attack, it moves during summer and winter and your cell's output reflects this.

    Interesting subject.
    Kindest regards,
    UB
