Too much SHOUTING and not enough research went into that post.
The Greater Sydney Commission’s 3 cities, 30 minute travel time vision for Sydney is a game changer you appear to have missed. Have a google.
The vision is under construction right now and has been for some time and includes decentralised jobs and essential services and efficient transport in order to work.
Well before the 3 cities vision in Sydney is maxed out (and something similar in Melbourne), there will need to be revolutionary, very fast inter-city ground transport to enable decentralisation to step out from Sydney and Melbourne on the same mantra of decentralised jobs and essential services and 30 minute travel times. This can be achieved with new cities of 300-500k along the route.
Like it or not, acknowledge it or not, intra-city decentralisation will not happen without fast efficient transport like 80-90 km/hr Metro Rail and 160 km/hr Metro Rapid Rail and intercity decentralisation will not happen without 400-550km/hr very fast trains.
Transurban will need to morph to be a player in intra-city and inter-city decentralisation. Others will emerge ready to roll out these infrastructure assets integrated with creating the communities they enable imo.
