In an evolving economy there is always going to be new tasks and new services to provide.

Just prior to widespread use of the internal combustion engine in agriculture and transport, a third of all working people worked in agricultural production and processing.

With the advent of hydrocarbon horsepower workers flooded the cities and towns looking for work and disrupting the labour market.

Horses and other beasts of burden (oxen etc) flooded the red meat market disrupting it and so the sheep, cattle, pigs and poultry markets also suffered!

Those things sorted themselves out and so too would the Public Servants finding something useful to do outside in the private sector economy.

Lucky we don't have 30% of the population in the PS and lucky humans can adapt.

Agree with adaptation in the past.

But that’s the point - any history book is full of humanity adapting

But the cost is enormous.

Would it not be wise to weigh the costs first before cutting off our arms??
