I am not quite as old as some but i finished school in the early 80's
I remember when the cane was still in use.
Never did like to many of the teachers but a few cuts with the cane soon made me clean my act up.
If we were caught smoking we knew what the punishment was.

Funny how times change,not always for the better IMO
